100% Riesling. Dandelion Vineyards was started by Bulgarian born winemaker Elena Brooks and her husband Zar. At Dandelion Vineyards, it really starts and ends in the vineyard. Why the lonely dandelion as the sit in mascot of the winery? Because the belief is that this pesky little weed is the heart and soul of the vineyard. They sprout with the first site of life in the soil and air and they are eventually refolded back into the earth to become food for the vines. The Enchanted Garden was planted in 1910 and thrives to this day, a seven acre vineyard that is organic and lovingly tended by Sue and Stuart Woodman. This Riesling has aromas of citrus zest, lemon foliage and hints of dragon fruit flowers, etched by a clear steely minerality that holds the wine together. With a palate weight that is all fresh rain water, this is an attractively textural Riesling displaying the variety’s intense purity along with honey, caraway, and rye. Bone dry, its structure and length is underpinned by austere acidity. This wine shows that Eden Valley is one of the best places to grow Riesling in the world.
